Lancaster is located in the Antelope Valley in Northeast Los Angeles County. It is just 70 miles out of downtown Los Angeles, but separated by the San Gabriel Mountain range. It is in the 25 faster growing cities in the United States, the 8th largest in Los Angeles County and 9th in United States. It is a southern desert community, about an hour drive from Los Angeles.
Edwards Air Force Base is located in Lancaster. Lancaster is home to the Lancaster Aerospace Walk of Honor, which celebrates test pilots who were associated with Edwards Air Force Base. A Class-A minor-league baseball team, Lancaster JetHawks, play at the Lancaster Municipal Stadium. The Lancaster Performing Arts Center provides a variety of fine arts such as classical music and community theatre.
The California Poppy Festival occurs each spring, celebrating the state flower with crowds up to 60,000. Visitors from around the world come for this event.
There are several community parks including Apollo Park that has a large fishing pond and several playgrounds. There is a strong sense of community, with residents enjoying many outdoor activities.

Lancaster was founded in the year 1876 and has a population of roughly 125,000 people in Los Angeles County spread out through fifteen distinct neighborhoods. It is located north east of Los Angeles. Lancaster Arts, Culture, and Entertainment
Individuals in Lancaster have the benefit of living next to Los Angeles which is a very entertainment and cultural centered area. Lancaster is home to the Lancaster Golf Center, Lancaster Performing Arts Center, Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival, and the Aerospace Walk of Honor. The minor league baseball team the Lancaster JetHawks are found here as well. They’re directly affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks and have their home at the Clear Channel Stadium.
Lancaster evolved from a water stop on the railroads to a very busy and modernized city. In the 1920’s Western Hotel was built and in 1992 set to serve as a museum which was established under the California Historic Site program. It also served as the headquarters of the “Flat Earth Society” in the 1970’s which argued against science.
Lancaster is also the location of the Aerospace Walk of honor which was created in 1990. It celebrated pilots who were once associated with the Edwards Air Force Base and had significant achievements. Each year five more people are added to the database during the ceremony in September.
Lancaster has 600 acres of parkland. These include the Big 8 Softball Complex and National Soccer Center. The Forrest Hull Park is a very common dog park where many are seen playing together. A facility which preserves the beauty of the desert is the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve. The Lancaster Municipal Stadium was built in 1996 and during the previous decade the JetHawks called it home.
The Lancaster Performing Arts Center is a where culture can be found every night. Residents can find dance, theater, and musical performances. Many celebrities have also made appearances and performed there from dancers to musicians and singers as well. The Skate UniverCity is a local skateboarding park.
Special Events
60,000 individuals visit the Lancaster City Park during the California Poppy Festival every spring. It is the location of an abundant amount of poppies in the state. Other activities also occur on the 55 acres.
A street farmer’s market and fair is held many times throughout the summer and is called Celebrate Downtown Lancaster. It boasts many vendors and street musicians. Another festival held every October is the Bark at the Park one. It is focused on celebrating the talents of both canines and their owners.
