The city is split into a few distinct areas including The Eastside, the Harbor, Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, northeast Los Angeles, Wilshire, the Westside, San Fernando and Cresenta Valleys, and South Los Angeles.

Los Angeles
is a very well known city worldwide. It is the center of almost anything from science, technology trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, and business. It was ranked as the eighth most powerful economic city in the world by Forbes.com above Toronto and Shanghai internationally and Chicago and New York City in the USA. Los Angeles has also earned the title of “Entertainment Capital of the World” where television, video games, and music have also been created. Many celebrities call this city their home.

Los Angeles has had its fair share of drugs, gangs, and police corruption. It was also the location of the Rodney King controversy along with the riots as well. In 1994 it was the location of the Northridge earthquake.

Landmarks
Los Angeles has many distinct and significantly well known landmarks including Koreatown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Staples Center, LA County Museum of Art, Dodger Stadium, Griffith Observatory, and Getty Center. The city of Los Angeles has a population that is quite creative and due to this the city is known as the Creative Capital of the World. One out of every 6 residents is employed somewhere in the arts and creative industry as film makers, dancers, musicians, artists, and writers.

Hollywood is located in Los Angeles which is where the movie industry is centered. It makes fewer films than Bollywood but the profit is much higher. It is also the location of the Academy Awards which has the title of one of the oldest award ceremonies. 54 film festivals are held every single year. You will also find the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles which is the largest and oldest school of this type.

Performing arts are certainly not foreign to Los Angeles. It is suspected that over 1,000 musical dance, and theater groups exist in the city. Annually over 1,100 productions occur which averages about 21 every single week. The Los Angeles Philharmonic is held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The USC Thornton School of Music and Colburn School help educate young new creative minds.
