Jean Simmons Santa Monica House for Sale

The beautiful Santa Monica home of late film star Jean Simmons,  has now been placed on the market. This is the first time in 30 years the home has been for sale, with an asking price of $3,895,000.

The Southern Colonial-style house, built in 1950, opens to a swimming pool with a brick surround and a guesthouse, which could be used as a home office. In the main house, the master bedroom has beamed ceilings and a fireplace. There is a sky-lighted bathroom and a sauna. The 3,102 square feet of living space include a formal dining room, a den, an eat-in kitchen, four bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms.

Simmons was an Enlish actor who transitioned to become an American citizen. She starred in various movies including The Actress with Spencer Tracy, Young Bess, The Robe, The Egyptian, Guys and Dolls, Elmer Gantry (which as directed by her husband Richard Brooks), Spartacus, Hamlet,  and The Happy Ending (again directed by husband). Simmons received an her first Oscar nomination for Hamlet and her second Oscar nomination for The Happy Ending.
She is also well known for the Emmy she received for her supporting role in the famous miniseries The Thorn Birds.  She died at home in Santa Monica at the age of 80 of lung cancer.
